The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, welcomed European Union Ambassador Ms. Karin Johansson to the Presidential Palace for a significant meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.
During their discussions, the two leaders focused on strengthening ties between the European Union and Somaliland, exploring opportunities for collaborative social development projects. Both parties emphasised the importance of cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
The meeting also provided a platform to address pressing issues, including the upcoming elections in Somaliland, security concerns, and the broader stability of the Horn of Africa region.
Accompanying President Bihi were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Ciise Keyd Maxamuud, and the Minister of Planning and National Development, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Diiriye (Toorno), reflecting the high-level nature of the talks.
Ms. Johansson’s delegation included Ms. Caroline Adriaensen, Head of Cooperation, and Mr. Adnan Hagoog, highlighting the EU’s commitment to engaging with Somaliland on various fronts.
This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to foster strong partnerships that support development and security in the region.
