Somaliland and Ethiopian officials have reached an agreement to end hostilities in Dacawalay kebele, Harshin district, Somali Regional State, resolving a deadly land dispute through what both sides described as โpeaceful and sustainable means.โ The agreement follows violent clashes that claimed over 35 lives and left many injured.
The negotiations, held in Jigjiga, the Somali Regional State’s capital, included Somalilandโs Minister of Internal Security Abdalle Mohamed Arab and Ethiopian military and civilian leaders. A statement from Somalilandโs Ministry of Interior described the discussions as addressing โpressing security concerns,โ with both sides committing to prevent further escalation and ensure โpeace and stability in the area.โ
