Introduction:

Motivating Education is the highest role that students, teachers, education institutions and the communities need to understand and develop day by day in order to promote the level of education in the country or their children. Discussing the motivation of education it’s important to point the definition of education, the functions of education and the dimensions of education.

Education:

  • Education is defined in terms of training, skill acquisition or formal school attendance.
  • Education is a lifelong process which begins at birth and ends at death.
  • It widens and deepens as one continues on in life. Education includes all experiences of growth and development in every human being.
  • It is thus defined, a process of acquiring and developing desired knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable one to fit in the society and be a useful member of the society.
  • Education is a process of preservation, transmission and transformation of cultural heritage which leads to the Individual development of the learner and development of society at large.

Functions of Education:

  • Education must involve the transmission of what is worthwhile and desirable in order to equip one and enable him/her to contribute towards the development of the society.
  • It must transmit desired knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and beliefs that can grant one understanding of what goes on in the society. I.e. education must produce an all-round person who is productive in the society.
  • Should liberate mankind from ignorance and dependency
  • Should aim at socializing the individual, creating awareness and sensitization of societal values, virtues and beliefs.
  • Should stimulate the individual’s mind and develop his/her intellectual powers.

Dimensions of Education

Education has three main Dimensions:

  1. Cognitive dimension:

Refers to acquisition of desired knowledge, skills, attitudes, and development of intellectual capacity.

  1. Normative dimension:

Education is a social institution created and maintained by society in order to perpetuate, transmit accumulated knowledge, experiences, culture of society into the learners in order to train them to be a useful member of society. Education takes place through socialization that goes on in education institution.

  1. Creative Dimension

Education has to train learners for various roles and responsibilities in life so that they can be productive members of society.

It aims at bringing out the powers, capacities and latent potential of learners thus leading them into acquiring necessary skills that develops their behavior.

The motivational concepts of Education:

Since Education is a lifelong process starts from the birth and ends the death, it has a widen theories that inspire groups discuss and mention the communities of the globe are as below:

  • It is time for another post with inspirational quotes. This time Id likes to focus on something I find very useful: education. School may have been – or still be – boring, a killer of creativity or downright awful for you. But education is still important because it opens the mind and expands it. And if your years in school were bad or boring you can still educate yourself now. Anyways, here is some wisdom and inspiration from the people who have walked before us. It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.
  • Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding line, and no way of knowing how near the harbour was. “Light! Give me light!” was the wordless cry of my soul, and the light of love shone on me in that very hour.
  • If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem you face as a nail.
  • Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.
  • Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
  • Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.
  • Education makes a people easy to lead but difficult to drive: easy to govern, but impossible to enslave.
  • It is in fact a part of the function of education to help us escape, not from our own time — for we are bound by that — but from the intellectual and emotional limitations of our time.
  • People learn something every day, and a lot of times it’s that what they learned the day before was wrong.

Apart from the quotes and concepts of the previous wisdom groups in this globe I can add these points:

  • Education brings the people their liberty from the illiterate colonial
  • Education is the corps that teaches the people how to think.
  • The secret is the starting of education
  • Liking not being leader but make your own love of education
  • Optimism is the faith that leads to the achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
