Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi has today opened a National Youth Conference co-organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and SONYO at Ambassador Hotel, Hargeisa.
In his opening speech, the President announced creation of Somaliland Youth Fund with which he said the Government has already contributed $200,000 and urged international partners to add their contributions as well.
The conference is expected to addresses youth challenges and opportunities and will continue between 20 and 21 February 2018.
The two-day gathering will see participation of around 1000 youth members from across all regions of Somaliland and representatives from Government, UN and International Organizations as well as Somaliland civil society organizations.
According to the programme of the conference, among the major topics to be discussed include Sustainable Development Goals and the youth-related outcomes of the National Development Plan.
Participants will specifically discuss issues pertaining to the young people including employment, recreation, quality of higher education, vocational skills trainings, gender and reproductive health.
